The best time to visit Uganda is from June to August and December to February, which are the Dry seasons. Wildlife viewing is at its peak then. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Uganda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and you can’t avoid rain completely. However, after heavy rain, the skies often open up to bright sunshine.

Early in the morning, the driver will pick you up from your hotel and brief you before heading out to Murchison Falls, which is in the northern part of Uganda. Along the way, you will make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola where rhinos are being reintroduced to the wild in Uganda. This will help you have a complete feel of the African Big Five mammals, as it is the rhinos, out of the Big Five, that are missing in Murchison Falls National Park. You will go for a trek around the sanctuary on foot. You will have lunch at the sanctuary and some relaxation for an indefinitely short time. You will then embark on an exciting road trip to Murchison Falls, arriving in the evening. After checking in at the lodge, your safari guide will lead you on the game drive in Murchison Falls National Park in search of nocturnal and night grassers like lions, hyenas, and leopards among others. Afterwards, proceed back to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.

After an early morning warm-up tea/coffee, you will transfer for a game drive to the northern bank in search of animals like lions, giraffes, oribis, elephants, Jackson’s hartebeests, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, among other animals and bird species. You will then return to the lodge in time for lunch and relax, preparing for yet another exciting activity in the afternoon. After lunch, transfer for a three-hour boat ride on the Nile River to the bottom of the falls, where you will have the opportunity to view animals. Crocodiles and hippos are in the water while buffaloes, waterbucks, and elephants are often seen on the riverbank grazing and drinking water. You will then have to hike to the top of the falls for a clear view of the falls. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and overnight stay.

We will have breakfast and then drive to the top of the falls to truly appreciate the beauty and magnificence of the Murchison Falls. From the top, we shall embark on a transfer that will see us overnight at the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is quite long but incredibly scenic, passing through villages, lush green countryside, and hills dotted with tea plantations that characterize this part of Uganda. The beautiful scenery will amaze you all the way. Upon arrival at the accommodation, check in and just relax. You can proceed with the crater lakes excursion. You will enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes, surrounded by gentle hills, and the stunning views all over. Else, just enjoy your rest at the facility.

Your adventure begins today with an early breakfast, preparing you for an exhilarating day of chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. Kibale Forest National Park is renowned for its high density of primates, including the largest population of chimpanzees in Uganda. You will join a group of trekkers and an experienced guide who will lead you into the dense forest. As you trek through the undergrowth, keep your eyes and ears open for the signs of the playful and vocal chimpanzees. Encountering these primates in their natural habitat is an awe-inspiring experience. You will observe them swinging from trees, grooming each other, and playing on the forest floor. The trek typically lasts between 2-4 hours, depending on the location of the chimps. After this exhilarating experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch. You will check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular game reserve. You check in, and if time allows, you will go for an evening game drive.
Option: For Chimpanzee Habituation: Extra Cost of $100 Per Person: drive to the park’s tourism headquarters at Kanyanchu Visitor’s Center. Here, you’ll meet the ranger guides and researchers who will accompany you on the chimpanzee habituation experience. This immersive adventure allows you to spend 4 to 6 hours in the forest, observing the chimpanzees and learning about their behaviors and reactions to human presence. The knowledgeable guides and researchers will provide fascinating insights into the habituation process, offering a deeper understanding of these incredible primates.

Be up early and have your breakfast. Proceed for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains and be on the look for Cape buffaloes, herds of elephants, plus lions, leopards (though hard to spot), among others. Return to the accommodation for some rest time and lunch. After lunch, you will go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. During the trip, the sight of wildlife, including giant hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, among others, will fascinate you. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water’s shore. After the boat trip, you can decide either to return to the lodge to rest or first proceed for a brief late afternoon game drive and thereafter, return to the lodge.

You’ll transfer through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the way to Bwindi. This area is known for its tree-climbing lions. In Ishasha, we will drive off in this adventurous, vast savannah area with topis and African elephants, plus hopefully get the lions high in the fig tree branches. You will have lunch in Ishasha and continue with the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here you will experience a change in the landscape from flat savanna, via cultivated hills to jungle-covered mountains. Upon arrival in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will head for the cultural tour to the Batwa forest pygmies’ community to experience their lifestyle and enjoy their excellent traditional dance. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the lodge.

Have breakfast and move to the rangers’ post. You will receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the forest for your adventure and encounter. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken (4-8 hours) and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The time with these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation and rest after a strenuous trek. *Optional (extra cost): In case the body is willing to go out again, you can request your guide to arrange: a community visit to gain an insight in the local lifestyle, or a short nature walk.

Upon waking up, you will have an early morning breakfast and then check out of your accommodation. You will leave Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and travel to Lake Mburo National Park, which is located in the western part of Uganda. The drive will take approximately 4-5 hours. It is one of Uganda’s smallest but most beautiful national parks. Lake Mburo is famous for having the largest population of Zebras and Impalas in Uganda. It is made of seasonal swamps, woody Savannah grassland that is dominated by acacia, and Lakes.
Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, have lunch, and relax as you prepare for the night Game drive. Later in the evening, prepare and move out for the night game drive. Night Game drives in Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda are the most ideal for you. Notably known as the only park where you can spot an exceptional number of impalas than in any of the other Savannah parks. These game drives will also give you a wonderful experience for extraordinary sightseeing, viewing of diverse wildlife species. Through a network of game tracks, tourists are able to see animals ranging from Zebras, Impalas, giraffes, warthogs, buffalo, and hyenas. Waterbucks, elands, oribi, hippos, crocodiles, reedbuck, and many others. Then, after, you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy your early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo morning park (bush) walk in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. On this early morning guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter (at close range): Zebras, Giraffes and Eland, Topi and other antelope, Cape buffaloes among others. After this up-close encounter with wildlife, return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road to Entebbe airport to catch flight (1800hrs or later). Expect a stop at the Equator crossing mark (in Kayabwe) where you will have a photo opportunity and also (if interested) buy some souvenirs.
