Best Time To Visit – Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda is from June to August and December to February, which are the Dry seasons. Wildlife viewing is at its peak then. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Uganda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and you can’t avoid rain completely. However, after heavy rain, the skies often open up to bright sunshine.

Is it safe to travel to Uganda?

Uganda is a safe country to visit, especially when your part of an organized game drive with private guides, as you will be with us. These tours are designed to enhance your safety and provide you with a well-guided experience. There are, of course, some places to avoid in big cities like Kampala or Entebbe. But – as with everywhere else in the world – you’ll be fine by taking some precautions. Just some examples to be on the safe side, pun intended, don’t explore the city at night without a driver or guide, keep your valuables close to you, avoid wearing prominent and visible jewelry, and leave some things like passports in the hotel safe.

And then there’s the birdlife-with more than 1,000 species of all kinds and colors, Uganda is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

As you walk out of Kilimanjaro International Airport, your driver guide greets you with a big smile: ‘Karibu Tanzania – welcome to Tanzania!’ The guide takes you to your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the African atmosphere. The next day, your guide takes you on an exclusive, private safari that allows you to travel at your own pace. Enjoy the luxury of your safari jeep and take the liberty to stop and watch the animals as long as you like!

Day 2: A wonderful, relaxing day in Arusha

Today is a wonderful, relaxing day that you can spend in whatever way you like. Choose to spend the whole day at the lodge to enjoy the excellent service, sip on refreshing drinks, lounge near the pool, and just engulf yourself in the African vibes surrounding you. Or get to know Arusha through some interesting activities – go for example, on a city tour, explore the outskirts of the city by mountain bike, or score your first souvenirs at an exhilarating Maasai market…

Day 3: Arusha National Park

Today, you will go for your first actual game drive in Arusha National Park! This park, close to Arusha, is known for its abundance of tropical birds, the presence of the black and white Colobus monkey, and some rare albino baboons. You will probably spot the Colobus monkey and some rare bird species such as the gorgeous Silvery Cheeked Hornbill, and, if you are very lucky, even an albino. The park also has a lake, a few craters, waterfalls, mountains, and beautiful grassy plains.

Day 4: Relax in the lodge in Arusha or get active!

Today, you can relax at your hotel to enjoy the friendly service, or go out and about through a range of activities! You can, for example, visit the beautiful Mount Meru waterfalls. A short hike leads you there, after which you can take a refreshing swim in the cold water beneath the waterfall. Have your lunch in these quiet surroundings amidst singing birds and meandering water, and try and spot the amazing Colobus monkey or the Silvery Cheeked Hornbill on your way back!

Day 5: Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is well known for its large groups of elephants and the huge number of giant baobab trees. These trees can live for hundreds of years and are a source of water for elephants in the dry season, as they have a special technique to draw water from them. Besides, the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the dry season, which is why in this season in Tarangire you can see groups of up to 250 elephants next to many more animals!

Day 6 – 8: Serengeti National Park (central west/east)

Serengeti National Park is widely known as the place to go on safari, mainly because of the Great Migration that passes through here. The enormous, stampeding herds are impressive, as are the vast number of predators that live here: over four thousand lions, 225 cheetahs, a thousand leopards, 3500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs! And of course, plenty of other beautiful animals, which your guide will be delighted to search for together with you. Are you ready for this?

Day 9: Ngorongoro Conservation Area (incl. Crater)

The famous Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s seven natural wonders. The crater was formed two million years ago when a vast volcano erupted. The fertile lava has created a unique ecosystem, now home to the highest concentration of animals found anywhere in Africa! Once in the crater, thousands of animals such as lions, zebras, buffalos, and black rhinos surround you, and the views are astounding – you won’t know where to look! Watch the video of the park here.

Day 10: Flight to Zanzibar (included in the price)

Today, you fly to the spice island of Zanzibar. Our guide picks you up at the airport and takes you to your hotel. Over the next few days, you can discover white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs. Into culture? Then head to Stone Town and dive into the history of this fascinating little town. Food lovers can also visit the spice plantations and discover the diverse flavours of the delicious local cuisine. A tropical paradise awaits you!

Day 11 – 13: Zanzibar

Ultimate paradise is here: gorgeous, tropical Zanzibar! The clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean and the palm-fringed, white sandy beaches are almost too beautiful to be true. Buy your coconut drink fresh on the beach, spend hours sunbathing or swimming, and taste the delicious Zanzibari food. In the mood for something active? Then explore the beach, ocean, and island through a range of activities! We highly recommend the Safari Blue Cruise or a tour of Stone Town.

Day 14 – 15: Flight home from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ)

The last day! Depending on your flight time, you can relax on the beach or explore the island just a little bit more. A driver then takes you to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your flight home. Having second thoughts? It’s also possible to extend your holiday to another paradise island, such as Mnemba, Pemba, or Mafia!
