Best Time To Visit – Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda is from June to August and December to February, which are the Dry seasons. Wildlife viewing is at its peak then. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Uganda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and you can’t avoid rain completely. However, after heavy rain, the skies often open up to bright sunshine.

Is it safe to travel to Uganda?

Uganda is a safe country to visit, especially when your part of an organized game drive with private guides, as you will be with us. These tours are designed to enhance your safety and provide you with a well-guided experience. There are, of course, some places to avoid in big cities like Kampala or Entebbe. But – as with everywhere else in the world – you’ll be fine by taking some precautions. Just some examples to be on the safe side, pun intended, don’t explore the city at night without a driver or guide, keep your valuables close to you, avoid wearing prominent and visible jewelry, and leave some things like passports in the hotel safe.

Day 1: Entebbe or Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Early in the morning, our experienced guide will come to pick you up by 7:00 am from where you will be, to start your journey to the best of Uganda’s national park, very endowed with very many animal species. The park is denominated by so-called the big four (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos). The journey starts from Kampala to Masindi and directly to the Murchison Falls National Park, with a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. You’ll continue to Murchison Falls where you will start being embraced by the scenery of the park, a narrow gorge of 7 meters wide, because of its steepness and violent waterfalls, falling to 43 meters to the sea level. After having memories of the source of the River Nile, you will then proceed for an evening game drive where you will see a great number of games including giraffes, Uganda kobs, hyenas, buffaloes and so much more, and then proceed to the lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive and Launch Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you’ll set off for a sunrise game drive to see the Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, and waterbucks. You may also spot oribis, bushbucks, Bohor reedbucks, bush duiker, and warthogs plus large carnivores including lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. Crocodiles and hippos will be seen along the banks of the Nile. Some of the more common birds that can be seen include goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, and saddle-bill storks.

You will return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation before setting off in the afternoon for a boat cruise on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the falls. En route, you will see hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, and a wide variety of birds including the unusual shoebill storks. You will stop for pictures of the photogenic and majestic Murchison Falls. You will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer back to Entebbe

After an early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will set off inside Murchison Falls National Park for a game drive. Your tour guide will lead you to see animals before they go for hideouts. You can expect to see the repeated animals seen while on a boat cruise the previous day and ones that you may have not seen like, lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, Uganda cobs, zebras, very many animal species. Murchison Falls National Park safari has never been a disappointment, most of the animals will be seen. Later, you’ll proceed to transfer back to Entebbe with the lunch en route. You will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight to your next destination or at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala depending on your program.
