Best Time To Visit – Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda is from June to August and December to February, which are the Dry seasons. Wildlife viewing is at its peak then. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Uganda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and you can’t avoid rain completely. However, after heavy rain, the skies often open up to bright sunshine.

Is it safe to travel to Uganda?

Uganda is a safe country to visit, especially when your part of an organized game drive with private guides, as you will be with us. These tours are designed to enhance your safety and provide you with a well-guided experience. There are, of course, some places to avoid in big cities like Kampala or Entebbe. But – as with everywhere else in the world – you’ll be fine by taking some precautions. Just some examples to be on the safe side, pun intended, don’t explore the city at night without a driver or guide, keep your valuables close to you, avoid wearing prominent and visible jewelry, and leave some things like passports in the hotel safe.

The 4-Day Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking and Golden Monkey Tracking Safari by Gorilla Booking Uganda is an ideal blend of adventure, wildlife encounters, and cultural immersion. Whether you’re trekking through dense forests to see the endangered mountain gorillas or enjoying the playful antics of the golden monkeys, every moment of this safari promises to be unforgettable. With expert guides, scenic landscapes, and the chance to experience Uganda’s rich wildlife and culture.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Check-in to Hotel

Your 4-Day Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking and Golden Monkey Tracking Safari begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Uganda’s primary international gateway. Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda is famous for its rich biodiversity, warm-hearted people, and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Gorilla Booking Uganda, who will assist you with all immigration procedures and then transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe.

Entebbe is a charming town located on the shores of Lake Victoria, Uganda’s largest body of water. The town is both a gateway to the country and a peaceful haven, offering picturesque views, a laid-back atmosphere, and a glimpse into Uganda’s local life. Depending on your arrival time, you may have an opportunity to explore Entebbe’s local attractions. For instance, you could visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.

Day 2: Scenic Road Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will begin your scenic road transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. The journey takes you through beautiful countryside landscapes, with rolling hills, fertile farmlands, and small rural villages dotting the route. The drive offers a fascinating glimpse into rural Uganda, showcasing the daily lives of the locals and the rich natural beauty of the country.

The transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park usually takes around 8-9 hours, depending on road conditions and stops along the way. However, this road trip is incredibly scenic, with panoramic views of the Virunga Volcanoes, including Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabinyo, which form part of the Virunga Massif shared by Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. As you get closer to Mgahinga, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with dense forests and towering mountains providing a stunning backdrop.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Afternoon Batwa Cultural Experience

Your 4-Day Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking and Golden Monkey Tracking Safari is the highlight of the journey, as you embark on the highly anticipated gorilla trekking experience. After an early breakfast, you will head to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers. The briefing covers the rules and guidelines for trekking, ensuring that you have a safe and respectful encounter with the gorillas. It is important to follow the rangers’ instructions during the trek to minimize disturbance to the gorillas and to ensure the safety of both the trekkers and the gorillas.

Day 4: Morning Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga and Afternoon Transfer to Kigali Airport

Your tracking experience will begin with a briefing from your guide and ranger. The trek is relatively shorter compared to gorilla trekking, but it will still take you through the park’s stunning landscapes, including bamboo forests, grassy meadows, and volcanic slopes. The golden monkeys are often seen jumping through the trees or feeding on bamboo shoots, providing excellent opportunities for photography.

Golden monkey tracking is a fantastic way to end your safari, offering a lighter and more interactive experience with Uganda’s diverse wildlife. These small primates are curious and energetic, and spending time with them is a delightful way to observe the lighter side of Uganda’s wildlife.
