Best Time To Visit – Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda is from June to August and December to February, which are the Dry seasons. Wildlife viewing is at its peak then. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Uganda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and you can’t avoid rain completely. However, after heavy rain, the skies often open up to bright sunshine.

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Breakfast for day one will be provided at the hotel or your place of residence, followed by a meet, and greet and briefing on the 3 days of the Queen Elizabeth Tour by our driver. There will be a number of stopovers including at the Uganda Equator along Masaka road. Here you will be able to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres and also experiment with how water swirls in different directions when placed in the northern and southern hemispheres. Take photos and even buy some of the beautiful souvenirs. Head straight to the lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Start the day with early game drives that expose us to diverse animals including the Big Five—elephants, buffaloes, big cats- lions, leopards, and rhinos. More times in the evening, warthogs, and hunchback carnivals like hyenas are spotted along the circuits as we drive along, and many more species that are residents to this park. There is a rich birdlife especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the flamingoes in the salt lakes at Kasenyi.

Enjoy a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36km channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you’ll see land and water-adapted hippos yawning, the National Geographical Society killing machine, the Nile crocodile, gaping along the banks, and the savannah version of pigs, the warthog-Pumba are a hallmark sign in this animal home. With your binoculars along the peninsula, you’ll have a magnificent view of birds and animals like the ever-playing African elephants in the water.

Kidepo Valley National Park is a Savannah game park blessed with two beautiful seasonal Rivers Kidepo and Narus Rivers. However, the Rivers always disappear during the dry season and all they leave behind are the muddy pools until it rains again. The wildlife in Kidepo National Park is like no other in Uganda, you will experience spectacular and untouched wilderness from over 70 mammal species to up to 470 bird species.

 

Day 1: Pickup from Kampala and travel to Kidepo Valley National Park

Your driver/guide will pick you up from Kampala at 6.00 am, you will start the drive to Kidepo Valley National Park with lunch en route at Gulu town Continue to drive past Kitgum town and be driven through Karamoja land up to Kdepo Valley National Park. The park offers breathtaking Savannah landscapes, which end in a rugged horizon. A huge latitudinal range and correspondingly wide climatic conditions have evolved an extremely diverse flora. Unique birds are found here like the Ostrich, kori bustard, and secretary with 463 bird species. Kidepo has species not found anywhere in Uganda like the bat-eared fox, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, and cheetah. In this park can meet the pride of lions, herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, eland, zebra, and many more. Thus, the tour activities at the park begin the next day.

 

Day 2: Full-day game drive

Morning after breakfast do a game drive. You will most likely be able to view those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like giraffes, antelopes, lions, elephants, hyenas, buffaloes, and the Uganda Kobs. The splendid Kidepo River valley is dominated by a Borassus palm forest, a startling savannah landscape, and a stunning view of the Narus Valley situated in the southwest of the park. To the north of Sudan at the Lotukei Mountains and the Morongole range which marks the southern boundary of the park and ends the trail at the Kanangorok hot spring with a view of several faunas that can be seen wandering around like the tall Ostrich. After will be driven back to Park bandas for lunch and resting. After lunch will take on another game drive in the evening exploring different wildlife in the area. Seeing herds of buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of birds like ostrich herons, OR or visit the Kanangorok Hot Springs.

 

Day 3: Another game drive in a different area

Morning and evening game drive in the park exploring different wildlife in the area. The game drive will give you a chance for bird watching having a chance to see some of the rear bird and animal species like the cheetah and hunting dog, bat fox and striped hyena, gazelles, zebras, Rothschild’s giraffes, antelope species including roan antelope, bushbuck, bohor reed buck Jackson’s hartebeest, Buffaloes, Elands, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, Elephants and the jackal, later return to the lodge for lunch. In the evening you will go for a Cultural tour of the Karamajong community and this will enable you to spend some time with the locals where you will get to know more about their culture ways of life and beliefs. From here you will understand by the end of the tour why their pride makes them slow to adapt to the dynamic world and their love for cattle is comparable to the better-known Masai of Kenya and Tanzania.

 

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala

Morning after breakfast you will be driven back to Kampala. After stopping for lunch on the way and proceeding Arrival will be in the evening, then head to Entebbe airport for your evening flight back home.
